Hollywood’s business practices are… weird, to say the absolute very least. Whether it's poor working conditions, the threat of AI, or shelving movies for tax purposes, film studios are rightly criticized for their bizarre, shady tactics and for the ways that they screw over the people who actually make the movies that you see. But if you're looking for a portrait of Hollywood at its most deceitful, you need look no further than the strategy that's come to be known as Hollywood Accounting. This particular video was a passion project of mine that I researched and wrote on and off for the better part of two years before we crafted it into a thirty-minute piece for Second Thought, and it's one of the projects that I'm the proudest of.
